Benchmade Knife Company engineers and manufactures a variety of folders featuring several unique locking mechanisms, including automatic, patented modified locking-liners, lock-back, and Mono-lock^TM and their own exclusive patented AXIS^TM lock, which is totally ambidextrous. And if you're in need of a well-designed fixed blade, they offer one of the best. Blade shapes are model specific, and Benchmade offers a multitude of blade configurations in each model. These include: plain edge; ComboEdge® (with partial serrations); full serrations; and chisel grind, which is flat on one side (available in 910 only). Additionally, blades are available in several finishes including: Satin, bead-blasted, or BT2® coated for corrosion resistance. Also, in several models you can choose between two different blade steels. As mentioned above, Benchmade manufactures a modified locking-liner with their patented concave radius machined on the rear tang of the blade. This feature helps to ensure that the locking-liner fully engages for optimum safety. It is used exclusively on all of their locking-liner designs. Another added feature with Benchmade is the adjustable blade-pivot screw. You can readily tension the blade drag to your personal preference and the pivot screws are larger than average for increased strength. All Benchmade blades operate exceptionally smooth with little or no side-to-side "wobble". Stainless steel carry-clips are anchored (removable) to knife handles with torx screws for secure carry versatility and ease of access. Torx-head screws are used throughout the knives for superior means of achieving a "tighter" fit through a more controllable tooling system. And to take it one step further, we use stainless steel screw-receiver inserts wherever warranted. These threaded inserts help to prevent any stripping of screws while at eh same time providing a solid anchoring point for component assembly.

They are involved in the design and manufacturing of each component in every knife they make. Benchmade has close associations with several of the world's premier custom knife makers who provide some of the latest innovations and functional designs. A dedicated work force utilizes the newest technologies available including laser cutting to tolerances of .0005-inches which amounts to slicing a human hair into 16 pieces. From there, CNC machining centers and a host of other advanced production equipment helps to shape each piece into a "Benchmade fit" cutting tool. Their components are precisely manufactured to assemble with tight tolerances without requiring any additional fit and finish work to mask any inaccuracies. It all comes together in a fit, form, and function that is unparalleled, even by some custom knife maker's standards.
